Auckland Market Overview with Steve Burrows

In our previous Market Overview, we sat down with Otago Area Manager, John Hyde. However, this week we head north to talk with the Operations Manager for Auckland, Steve Burrows. Our conversation with Steve covered a number of topics, from OneStaff’s growing presence in the region to his advice to job seekers and employers.

Advice to Candidates and Job Seekers

Steve discusses Auckland’s huge boom in construction projects that have just been approved to go ahead. He notes that these developments present a vast array of opportunities for job seekers and construction professionals looking for work in the region. As Steve suggests, the amount of commercial and residential construction projects across Auckland City has and will continue to grow exponentially over the next decade and beyond.

Steve also comments on the need for more international professionals to come and work here in Auckland. Looking back at the past, Steve talks about how a lot of professionals once headed to Christchurch. However, he reiterates that for those interested in New Zealand’s construction industry, Auckland is a fantastic city with great opportunities and benefits.

Advice to Employers and our Clients

Explaining why employers should work with OneStaff, Steve states that their commitment to Health and Safety, coupled with a historic record of quickly delivering client requirements, makes OneStaff a cut above the rest.

As a place to live and work, Auckland offers a variety of unique benefits, plenty of activities and great career opportunities for any job seeker. Commenting on what employers can do to better attract and retain top talent, Steve suggests that offering a competitive salary is just the start. He feels that it’s crucial to highlight the lifestyle benefits Auckland has to offer when hiring new staff.

OneStaff in Auckland

OneStaff’s presence in Auckland began six years ago as a one-man operation, and has since grown into a multi-branched business which places construction professionals across the city.

As Auckland continues to grow and the amount of developments across the region increases, Steve feels that OneStaff has an exciting future ahead.
