Public feedback wanted for planned SH1 bridge at Blenheim

The century old ‘Banana Bridge’ in Blenheim is looks to be getting replaced in the near future with the local council now engaging with the community for feedback on their plans. While the old bridge is iconic it no can no longer keep up with the amount of traffic using it. While it will be getting replaced the old bridge is a protected historical landmark so it will be left standing and will be open for use to cyclists and pedestrians.

Downsized Orakei Bay Development Back on the Table

After around a decade of issues it appears as though as though Orakei Bay Development is making a comeback albeit on a smaller scale than was originally intended. The development company Equinox has plans to begin work soon although it doesn’t appear as they are quite on the same page as the council in regards to the status of the project. Given its history it will be interesting to see how this will pan out.

Construction Industry Meet to Address Major Issues

This September the entire construction industry will come together for the first time to discuss the major industry issues at an inaugural forum, Constructive, led by the Registered Master Builders Association (RMBA). Constructive will consist of informative and interactive panel discussions on topical issues within the industry, followed by a series of site visits/tours. Various industry leaders including IPENZ Chief Executive Susan Freeman-Greene, NZIA Chief Executive Teena Hale Pennington and Property Council of NZ Chief Executive Connal Townsend will be attending the forum which takes place on 21-23 September 2016. Speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

Something a Little Bit Ridiculous

Submerged Aquarium | OneStaff

Milan based architect Lissoni Associate has won a design competition for a public aquarium and park in New York City with their submission of a submerged ‘aquarium’ and it looks incredible.

The complex would consist of eight biomes representing the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian and Southern oceans and four seas: the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Tasman and Red, each housing marine life taken from the water body it relates to.
