Hawke’s Bay Overview with Megan Nicholson

July 25, 2016 0 comments

Welcome to the latest OneStaff Market Overview! In this edition we caught up with our Area Manager for Hawkes Bay, Megan Nicholson. We sat down with Megan and talked about a number of topics from the current opportunities available in Hawkes Bay to advice for employers in the area, and OneStaff’s firm commitment to Health & Safety.

Advice to Candidates

Megan comments on some of the most in-demand roles within the area. As she suggests, temporary opportunities play a large part of the available roles within Hawkes Bay, with a large proportion of these being within the horticultural sector. There are however a wide variety of general labour opportunities available, with Forklift Drivers and Machine Operators being specifically mentioned.

New Zealand is a country in a phase of huge growth and Hawkes Bay isn’t any different. In the video below, Megan discusses some of the large projects set to happen in the area, naming the Ruataniwha Dam and a large bottling plant as major developments that present various opportunities within the area.

Advice to Employers and Clients

Megan offers her advice to employers in the region on how to attract and retain the best talent. She states that offering permanent work to job seekers is a major drawing card, as permanent opportunities are limited within the region.

She also suggests that employers should focus on some of the drawing points of living and working in the Hawkes Bay, such as the cheaper housing opportunities and the general lifestyle that Hawkes Bay has to offer.

Our Commitment to Health & Safety

Moving away from the Hawke’s Bay, Megan comments on the Health & Safety Reform Bill that came into effect in April 2016. She reiterates the commitment to Health & Safety that OneStaff has and gives an insight into what the new reform means to both our Clients and Candidates across the country.

Introducing Megan and the Future for OneStaff Hawkes Bay

With 15 years in recruitment and 3 within OneStaff, Megan is a veteran of the industry. OneStaff opened in in Hawkes Bay in 2014 and since then there’s been continual growth for the company in the area. As Megan suggests, this growth is set only to continue with the branch looking to bring on another Recruitment Consultant to better our Permanent Recruitment Solutions in the area.

This expected growth is also great news for employers in the region, as Megan is fully aware of some of the great companies within the area and hopes that OneStaff can branch out and offer alternative solutions to these employers.
