Canterbury Market Overview with Darryl Blockley

March 28, 2017 0 comments

Canterbury Operations Manager, Darryl Blockley, joins us this week for another OneStaff Market Overview.

In our discussion with Darryl he outlines the current state of the market across Canterbury, plus some of the high scale projects and the most sought after roles in the region.

Canterbury Market Overview

Darryl suggests that residential construction projects in the Canterbury region have slowed down since our last update in 2016. He advises that this is mostly due to the residential rebuild being close to completion following the 2011 Earthquake.

Darryl also expands on the commercial projects that are currently taking place in the region, noting a variety of school projects, a recreational centre and a hospital means that the commercial construction space is still extremely busy.

If you’re wondering what some of the most sought after roles for the Canterbury region are, Darryl provides some further insight into these within the video. Carpenters, Plumbers, Welders, Class 2 and Class 4 Drivers and skilled labourers continue to be in high demand. If you’re a job-seeker with a good attitude, a desire to work and an enthusiasm for construction work, Darryl is confident of the availability of suitable work now, and into for future for anyone interested in living and working in the Canterbury region.
